Skincare reviews, tested in real heat
Sunscreen under makeup, masks and the hyped Korean names — used for real in Limassol heat, and scored only once I’d lived with them.
Nothing on this page was reviewed after a swatch on the back of my hand. A sunscreen gets a month of mornings under makeup; a mask gets used again and again until I know what it actually does. And it happens in Limassol, where 30 °C+ is normal for months — which tells you more than any ingredient list. A serum that feels lovely in an air-conditioned shop can pill under foundation by mid-morning, and a sunscreen that looks beautiful in the bathroom mirror can leave a grey cast in daylight.
So far that has meant two of the most talked-about Korean names. Beauty of Joseon’s Relief Sun sat under my makeup every morning for a month without pilling once. Biodance’s PDRN mask hydrated properly every time — and still never gave me the glass-skin glow the hype promises. Both of those sentences matter, which is why every review has both kinds.
Everything is labelled Tested or Researched, and only the tested products get a score: if I haven’t used it, I won’t rate it. I always tell you the downside, because that’s the part you need before you spend your money, and the price on every review is what I paid. If you’re here for SPF, the sunscreen page has every sunscreen I’ve worn under makeup.

Every skincare review, newest first
BIODANCE Rejuvenating Caviar PDRN Real Deep Mask
A genuinely good hydration mask that asks for two to four hours and gives softness and plumpness back — not the glass-skin…
Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun: Rice + Probiotics SPF50+ (50 ml)
Lightweight, no white cast, and my makeup sits on top with no pilling. Best for dry-to-normal skin; the small tube goes fast.

Questions people ask
Before you buy
What skin type do you test on?
Mine, which is combination — and it changes with the season, so where it matters a review says what my skin was doing at the time and how long I used the product. The “Keep in mind” box on every review is where the downsides go, including who it won’t suit.
Is Korean skincare worth the hype?
The two I’ve tested so far earned their place, with caveats I’d rather tell you than hide. Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun sat under my makeup every morning for a month with no pilling and no white cast, but its dewy finish is too much for oily skin. The Biodance PDRN mask hydrated properly after every one of my five uses, and still never gave me the glass-skin glow the hype promises.
Why do only some products have a score?
Because I only score what I’ve used. Everything on LadyMal is labelled Tested or Researched: Tested means it went through real use on my own face, Researched means it appears in a buying guide because people cross-shop it against something I have tested. A researched pick earns a score the day I actually use it.
How long do you use something before reviewing it?
Long enough to know — a month of every-morning wear for a sunscreen, five uses for a mask. The “Tested for” line at the top of each review says exactly how long, and the price on it is what I paid.
